A Divergence of Professional Communication
Professional communication is key when job searching. I find that there seems to be a significant divergence between what those already in a career call professional communication and college students readying themselves for their first career. Those in academia have no doubt experienced this phenomena in recent years; you’re reading a paper a student has turned in and encounter what is commonly referred to as texting shorthand. I have personally read papers where students have used words such as “L8R” (later) or “B4″ (before), and ”OMG” (Oh my God or Goodness). Read more…

Hello world!
I decided to keep the generic title wordpress gives to the first post. It seemed appropriate as this blogging effort seems like a new birth for me. I’m not new to blogging but certainly in this area. I have been teaching a class to juniors and graduating seniors for the past year. It has been both wonderful and daunting at the same time. The inner helpmate has an enormous passion for helping these students launch their careers with all the right tools. The inner child in me wonders if I have the right tools to give them.
